Abstract

Abstract: Monthly NOAA-AVHRR NDVI images during 1982 to 2001 are used in deriving NDVI drought indices: Crop Vegetation Index, Aridity Anomaly, NDVI Anomaly and Standard NDVI Index. Area and yield of main winter crops (wheat and barley) integer with NDVI drought indices are used in detect the agronomic criteria that assessment the drought trace by remote sensing. Regional drought may be used as global indicator (R= 0.9). Spectral drought indices are different between them in noticing the place, date and trace of drought stress. Strategic importance adding to the direct agronomic criteria are emphasized on the wheat and barley productivity together as agronomic criteria for assessment the drought trace by remote sensing in Syria.
