Abstract: The objective of this study to monitor and evaluate the area of sand cover in the Syrian Badiah, which is suffering from the continuous increase in the movement of sand cover. Recent decades characterized by drought and decline in the annual rainfall rate. Remote sensing techniques (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) have provided us with very important data in this research. Landsat images were used in June 2010, 2014 and 2018. Sand cover assessment achieved by suing several indices. The study showed that the soil is constantly deteriorating, and increasing the area covered by the sand. Sand area in 2010 is estimated 14329 km2, 30.5 %. 2014 amounted to 22562 km2 by 48 %, 2018 was estimated at 2,754 km2 by 58.6 %. The area covered during the study period 2010 and 2018 at 13214 km2 by 28.1 % and an annual crawl rate of 1468 km2.
